Shabla Municipality signed the contract for financing the project ROBG-407 “Restoration of the unique common cultural heritage and promotion of the joint tourist product” Hamandjia – the first civilization of Old Europe “under the INTERREG VA Program Romania-Bulgaria 2014-2020.

On July 26, 2018 / Thursday /, in the Regional Office of INTERREG VA Romania-Bulgaria Program 2014-2020 in Calarasi, Romania, the contract for financing the project ROBG-407 “Restoration of the unique common cultural heritage and promotion of the joint tourist product “Hamandjia – the first civilization of Old Europe”. Shabla Municipality is a project partner with the town of Chernavoda, Romania.

Mr. Marian Zhechev signed the contract for financing, as the municipality of Shabla is a leading partner in the project, and Mr. Liviu Negoitsi – Mayor of Chernavoda, Romania, signed the contract for national funding.

The project envisages the development of the archeological complex in the village of Durankulak as a modern tourist destination and popularization of the Hamandjia culture. The main activities set under the project are: expansion of the parking lot, construction of a ticket center, strengthening of a pedestrian alley; expansion of the visitor center; strengthening the medieval wall; construction of a new roof of the temple of Cybele; widening of the pedestrian promenade on the island; construction of 3 viewing platforms – places for rest and observation of birds and the surrounding area; wide range of marketing activities, etc ..

The total value of the project amounts to EUR 1,494,037.70, as the approved grant for the municipality of Shabla amounts to EUR 830,425.72, and for the city of Chernavoda it amounts to EUR 663,611.98. The co-financing by the partners amounts to 2% of the value of the approved grant under the project. The term for implementation of the financing agreement is 36 months, as of July 27, 2018.
