On November 8, 2024 The National Coordination Council (NCC) of the National Movement “Know Bulgaria – 100 National Tourist Sites” held its next meeting at the Ministry of Culture. The candidacies of 8 sites were discussed, some of which were given recommendations and remained for discussion at subsequent meetings. As a result, it was decided to include six new sites in the list of ND “Know Bulgaria – 100 NTO”, among which is the Archaeological Complex “Durankulak-Hamangia”.
We remind you that the tourist infrastructure of the site was implemented under project № ROBG-407 „Restoration of unique common cultural heritage and promotion of joint tourism product „Hamangia – first civilisation of old Europe”, financed under Contract № 81781/17.07.2018, Priority Axis 2: „Green region“, Specific Objective 2.1: „To improve the sustainable use of natural heritage and resources and cultural heritage“ under the INTERREG V-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme 2014-2020. It was implemented in joint cooperation with the city of Cernavoda, Republic of Romania. The overall objective of the project is to improve the sustainable use of the cultural heritage – the Hamangia Culture in Bulgarian and Romanian Dobrudzha (Dobrogea) Region through joint efforts and actions regarding preservation and valorization of the Hamangia cultural heritage with a view of development of a joint integrated tourism product “Hamangia” and its joint promotion and management.
The route includes a walking and virtual tour of the archaeological sites, observation of dozens of bird species, unique nature and much more.
